Fortnite v29.00 patch notes: biggest changes in Chapter 5 Season 2
It feels like it’s been ages since we got the fresh feeling of a new Fortnite season, as the previous one was so long. Still, Chapter 5 Season 2, also known as Fortnite Myths & Mortals is finally here, and it comes with a lot of exciting new content. New locations, weapons, items, and more are in store.
We’re going to run everything down in these full Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 patch notes so you can dive in knowing exactly what to expect. Battle Royale isn't the only thing that got updates though, check out our LEGO Fortnite v29.00 patch notes to see what was added to that mode.
New Battle Pass – Fortnite Myths & Mortals
Of course, it wouldn’t be a new Fortnite season without a new Battle Pass, and this one is pretty exciting. It features a whole bunch of skins based on characters from Greek mythology including Medusa, Aphrodite, and Zeus.
Plus, this season’s secret skin – releasing later in the season – is Korra from Avatar the Last Airbender.
New locations – Fortnite Myths & Mortals
The map is being torn up with a litany of heavenly and hellish new POIs. Atop the mountains is the brand new Mount Olympus POI which is quite extravagant, and is home to none other than Zeus.
Brawler’s Battleground awaits south of Mount Olympus, where the god of war, Ares, awaits for you to challenge him. While Ares isn’t included as a Battle Pass skin, he will be in the April Fortnite Crew pack.
Meanwhile, in the west, you’ll find the Grim Gate POI which is guarded by Cerberus and leads to the final new POI this season: The Underworld. This scorched landscape will provide a unique challenge to players trying to navigate it, with uneven terrain and a few hazards scattered around the place. No points for guessing who lives here.
Thunderbolt of Zeus – Fortnite Myths & Mortals
There are of course plenty of new weapons being added this season, but one is worth talking about separately from the others, the Thunderbolt of Zeus, a Mythic item that can be looted from chests or as a guaranteed drop from fighting Zeus.
This weapon allows you to rise into the air and strike your opponents down with lightning bolts. It’s extremely powerful but has limited charges, so use them wisely if you’re lucky enough to find this item.
Wings of Icarus – Fortnite Myths & Mortals
Along with mythical weapons comes the power of flight. The new Wings of Icarus item can be looted from chests and allows you to soar through the skies, performing dive-bomb attacks on those below you.
However, you must be careful, Icarus, as using them for too long will cause the wings to burn up, sending you crashing into the ground with deadly force.
New weapons – Fortnite Myths & Mortals
There are a bunch of new regular guns being added this season too including:
- Gatekeeper Shotgun – a triple-barrelled shotgun
- Harbinger SMG – A highly accurate SMG, but only on the first shot
- Huntress DMR – A long-distance rifle
- Warforges AR – A high-damage and rate of fire assault rifle, but has strong recoil
Thermal Scope – Fortnite Myths & Mortals
Along with weapons, two new weapon mods have been added to the game.
First is the Thermal Scope, which has twice the vision of a regular scope and has a togglable heat-vision mode that lets you scope out hidden opponents.
Second is the Speedgrip, which steadies your aim and lets you move faster while aiming your gun.
