EON launches XBHD, a new HD adapter to play your original Xbox on modern TVs
EON Gaming launched on Tuesday a new plug-and-play HDMI adapter for the original Xbox console. It allows owners of the OG Xbox to connect the device to modern TVs and monitors.
The new device plugs into the Xbox’s proprietary AV port and converts the old-school component video signal into HD video without lag.
The XBHD outputs most of the first Xbox’s resolution modes, supporting 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i, the latter giving you Full HD output.
EON's XBHD promises a seamless plug-and-play experience, as it doesn't require external power supply nor a modded Xbox or any additional devices whatsoever. You only need the XBHD, an HDMI cable, and your OG Xbox, and it should work out of the box.
The adapter has two HDMI output ports, letting you connect your console to two TVs or monitors simultaneously, or to a capture card for streaming and recording.
XBHD also plugs into the Xbox’s LAN port and features three Ethernet ports on its front side that let you connect to other original Xbox consoles and host a LAN party like its the early 2000s.
With the original Xbox Live multiplayer servers long gone, this is a great option to play Halo with friends on four Xboxes without needing a router.
For audio output, the XBHD has a MiniToslink 3.5mm port and promises “clear audio” to headphones, speaker systems, and capture cards.
XBHD was originally aimed for a release on June 20, 2023, but after a delay, it is now available from October 10, 2023.
The XBHD comes in a box that mimics the design of the original Xbox, and the device itself is clearly inspired by Microsoft's first console. In the box, you'll find just the adapter and its manual, so you will need to buy an HDMI cable separately, if you don't have one.

Priced at $189.99, you can purchase the EON XBHD from Amazon or select retailers, and the device is shipping worldwide.
EON is also known for its other HD adapters for retro consoles, like the EON Super 64 for the Nintendo 64, and the EON GCHD Mk-II, which brings your GameCube to modern screens.
